Lib Dem Federal Conference Directory published
If you are planning to attend Lib Dem Autumn Conference in Brighton then you need two documents - the Agenda and the Directory. The Agenda sets out all the debates and speeches that will be happening in the Main Auditorium, and that was published last week.
But the public business in the Auditorium, whilst the most visible, is only one part of what is on offer at Conference. Layered over and around it are the fringe meetings, exhibition and training sessions. At the exhibition you can chat with members of the many special interest organisations within the party, as well as external groups, and join them if you like.
There is also a series of Q&A sessions with the party spokespersons where you can meet and discuss current policy issues. Then there's the disco and the beach clean-up, though not at the same time.
The training sessions are the unsung jewels of Conference. During any one 90 minute slot throughout the day there will be around 8 sessions to choose from. Some are aimed at specific groups of people such as councillors, Parliamentary candiates or agents, but most are suitable for all members who are interested in honing their skills as activists. Some have been identified as ideal for new members.
All of these activities can be found in the Directory, which has just been published.
Also, watch out for the very useful Conference app which includes everything in both the Agenda and the Directory. It will become available nearer the time.
