Lib Dem MEP Backs East Kent Jobs

On Sunday 9th November, Lib Dem MEP Catherine Bearder visited Thanet South for a briefing tour of local issues by Russ Timpson, Lib Dem PPC candidate for Thanet South.

Bearder visited both Ramsgate's Royal Harbour and Manston Airport. During her visit she was particularly interested to learn about the campaign to re-open Manston Airport and Russ's plan to link aviation apprentice jobs to aircraft recycling at Manston. Timpson is already in discussion with East Kent College about the possibility of developing aviation apprenticeships at Manston.

"We must also get the Port of Ramsgate working again by producing a constructive plan, working together with other commercial port owners in Europe to ensure a viable ferry service for both freight and passengers, " stressed Bearder. "The Lib Dems have a great candidate in Russ Timpson," she continued. "And I know that he'll be putting the case for jobs and working within Europe".

This week Russ Timpson will be taking part in a panel discussion at Discovery Park on Wednesday 12th November starting at 7pm. "I'm really looking forward to the forthcoming Hustings with the other candidates," Timpson commented. "We have a strong plan and a clear direction."

"Along with North Thanet running mate, George Cunningham, the East Kent Coast Liberal Democrats will form the clearest alternative to UKIP and the anti-European parties."
