Lib Dems gain ground in Romney Marsh

3 Oct 2003

A big swing of 11% took Lib Dem Sylvia Oiller to a close finish in the Romney Marsh By-election. The Conservatives saw their 200+ majority in May fall to just 76 votes. Labour finished in a very poor third place with just 9% of the vote.

Sylvia Oiller said, "I would like to thank the many local people that gave me their support. Sadly we just missed out this time, but the Lib Dems will continue their fight to improve the Marsh for local residents."
