The UK’s Response to Trump

US President Donald Trump presents far-reaching challenges for our country; from his threat of tariffs to his lack of commitment to NATO and Ukraine.

This motion proposes a number of policies to strengthen our defence and economic security in light of these challenges, including by working much closer with Europe.

Animal Welfare in the Food System

Britain has started to fall behind on animal welfare, undermining the high standards of British farming. This motion proposes measures to support British farmers to produce a safe, sustainable and affordable supply of food, while improving animal welfare and environmental standards.

Ending the Crisis: A Fair Deal for Children with SEND

Young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are being let down - their outcomes are consistently lower than for their peers without SEND.

This motion calls for us to do all we can to close this gap, including creating a new National Body for SEND, speeding-up the building of state-funded special schools, and improving inclusivity in mainstream education.

Free to be Who You Are

Everyone should have the freedom to live their lives as who they are, with their fundamental rights protected. Sadly, discrimination against LGBTQ+ people still exists.

This motion recommends a number of policies to promote freedom and equality for all people.

Science, Innovation and Technology

Our belief in internationalism, respect for individuals rights, and the dispersal of power gives the Liberal Democrats a unique opportunity to harness innovation to usher in a new age of prosperity and progress.

This motion calls for more support for education, universities, and the private sector for these ends.
