The Romney Marsh Branch of Shepway Liberal Democrats has chosen the candidates who will fight the forthcoming Romney Marsh and New Romney Coast By-elections.

In a selection meeting earlier tonight, local women Syliva Oiller and Ann Birchmore were chosen to fight the two District Council seats.

Sylvia, a well known campaigner on the Marsh will be contesting the Romney Marsh seat, stretching from Burmarsh to Brookland. Ann will fight the New Romney Coast seat, made up of Littlestone and the surrounding area.

Sylvia said "I am delighted to have been selected to fight this seat for the Liberal Democrats. I have lived on the Marsh almost all my life and I would be proud to represent this area on the District Council."

Ann said "I am looking forward to meeting local people on the doorsteps in the coming weeks. The Marsh is a wonderful area to live in, but I feel that there is a lot that can be done to improve the quality of life for local residents."

Both by-elections will be polling on Thursday October 2nd.
