Love: Nuclear. Love: Pickles. Love: Sandgate?

15 Jun 2015

Two motions to Shepway Full Council from newly elected Sandgate & West Folkestone District Councillor Rory Love for their 17th June meeting.

As detailed on the Shepway Council website, the motions read:

Motion 1 - from Councillor Rory Love

This Council reaffirms its commitment to the case for a Dungeness C power station as part of a balanced power generation portfolio within the UK, and resolves to continue to work for the long-term future of the nuclear power industry on the Romney Marsh. To this end, the Council will actively lobby Government, and relevant partners and stakeholders, to include Dungeness C in any future nuclear build programme, both through its own work and jointly with Damian Collins MP.

Motion 2 - from Councillor Rory Love

This Council congratulates the former Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, The Rt Hon Sir Eric Pickles MP, on the award of his knighthood. This Council also congratulates his successor, The Rt Hon Greg Clark MP, on his promotion to the role, and looks forward to continuing our same positive relationship with the new Secretary of State and his Departmental Ministers.

Struggling to see the connection of either or both of these motions with Sandgate and / or West Folkestone to be honest. But then, as Rory doesn't live in Sandgate or West Folkestone, I guess that's to be expected...
