Lydd Airport Planning Meeting re-re-re-scheduled for 2010!

10 Sep 2009

Shepway Council Chief Executive has announced a new delay to the planned Shepway Council planning meeting to debate the proposed expansion of Lydd Ashford Airport. In a statement emailed to members, Alistair Stewart said:

"The council meeting to determine plans to expand Lydd Airport will now be held early next year.

"As you know, the meeting was due to be held on 24 September but I have agreed to change the date following a request from the airport's new Managing Director, Jonathan Gordon.

"Mr Gordon took up the role of MD on 1 September. He asked me to defer the meeting to give him time to review all the paperwork involved in the two applications, including the airport's response to concerns raised by the council in its published report.

"I appreciate his position and have agreed to re-schedule the meeting, which will now be held in late February or March. A date will be fixed when we have consulted everyone involved in the applications and I will obviously let you know as soon as this date is agreed.

"I have made it clear that I am not prepared to change the date again. We must reach a position where these applications are finally determined."
