McNeice anger at Folkestone West parking

New charges but less parking: that's the situation at Folkestone West train station after Southeastern announced they are to introduce parking charges at the station. The cost will be £2 per day Monday to Friday (or £1.70 after 2pm).

To make things worse, despite already chaotic parking, many spaces have recently been removed from the station to form coach spaces for Orient Express transfers. On the Shornecliffe Road side, new bollards prevent cars from using nearly half the car park area!

Morehall ward Councillor, Tom McNeice, said:

"This will have serious implications for on street parking in the area. Even more rail users will end up parking on street for nothing rather than pay for station parking - bad news for local residents. What the situation will be when the High Speed rail link opens in December next year goodness only knows."
