Military Road Resurfacing: We'd like our road markings back please...

12 Aug 2016

Earlier this week Military Road was given a much needed re-surfacing, which was complete by Wednesday, but as yet there's no sign of the road markings being replaced. The works, which took two days to complete and started a day late, don't seem to have been scheduled in such a way as to result in the prompt repainting of the double yellow lines and other markings.

Whilst there is a warning sign about the lack of road markings, as well as a 20MPH speed limit due to loose chippings, various vehicles have been seen parking dangerously in locations that previously had double yellow lines, such as the junction of Bybrook Field and the junction of Gough Road. Commenting, Sandgate Parish Councillor Gary Fuller said:

"It's clear that, for safety, the repainting of road markings should occur as quickly as possible after the end of resurfacing works."

"To leave the repainting as long as it has been left shows a lack of organisation by Shepway District Council and Kent County Council."

"I hope they'll act soon to get these works scheduled in and make Military Road safe for motorists and pedestrians."
