Shepway Lib Dem Group Leader Lynne Beaumont commented:

"I was amazed to see the cabinet increased back to the legal maximum of 10 people last week at a cost around £8,000 a year. When the Council has limited resources and has just set its budget, to add £8,000 in increased Councillor allowances is madness.

"Are all Cabinet members going to accept a cut in their annual allowance to pay for this new seat in cabinet, to ensure this change happens at no cost to the tax-payer? I doubt it, but they should."
