National Adoption Week kicks off in Kent

29 Oct 2010

As National Adoption Week 2010 kicks off on Monday (1 November), Kent County Council is looking for people to provide loving and permanent homes for children.

Adoptive families are particularly needed for older children, groups of brothers and sisters, and children from black and minority ethnic backgrounds. The county council is looking for single people or couples in long-term relationships and welcomes applications from right across the community.

Kent County Council Adoption Service Manager, Vanessa Glenn, said:

"There are no blanket bans in adoption, so please don't think we'll turn you down because you're over 40, single, or whether you own or rent your home. What we really need are people who can offer a child or sibling group a loving and supportive family for life."

To find out more about adoption, call 0845 330 2968, log on to www.kent.gov.uk/adoption or come along to an information open day.

The next information open day is on Saturday 6 November between 10.30am and 3.30pm at Hall Place Enterprise Centre, Harbledown By-pass, near Canterbury, CT2 9AG. It is a very informal event. People can turn up at their leisure to ask any questions or get advice on how to become an adoptive parent.
