Following overnight heavy rain on Saturday, the A259, opposite the Prince of Wales public house flooded causing traffic to have to use the centre of the road.

Neil Matthews said:

"I reported the flooded road to Kent Highways as soon as I became aware of the problem. It would seem the gully had become blocked and the water had nowhere to drain away."

He added:

"it wasn't too long before the road was the cleared of the water, but it is important we keep the gullies free of dead leaves this time of year. Being on the spot enabled me to report the problem straight away."
