Senior Lib Dem Councillors are set to opt for a PAY CUT to put more money into local services. This is despite the Independent body that recommends the levels of allowances proposing a big rise in allowances this year.

Deputy Leader Paul Marsh said, "With Council finances in the state they are in, we don't believe it is right that Cabinet Members should have their pay increased. Our priority is to put services for local people first."

Councillors Take Pay Cut

Not only are Cabinet Members refusing a pay rise, they are actually proposing to take a 10% PAY CUT. This will mean a savings for local tax payers, especially when added to the money already saved by the Lib Dems by reducing the size of the ruling cabinet and other measures.

Councillor Julie White said, "We promised to spend less on Councillors' pay and more on services. I am delighted that we have been able to achieve this so quickly."
