New Cross-Channel Guide Boosts Winter Events

31 Oct 2007

Listing more than sixty winter season events taking place in and around Folkestone and its across-Channel twin town Boulogne-sur-Mer, a new edition of 'Coast to Coast', published as a joint venture by Shepway District Council, Folkestown Centre Management and the Communaute d'Agglomeration Boulonnais, is now available from local tourist information points.

The free guide features Christmas markets, concerts, exhibitions, shows, festivals, 'animations' and activities. Ten thousand copies of an English language edition are being distributed in the Shepway district and farther afield, and the same number providing identical information in French in the Cote d'Opale. The project was co-ordinated by the Boulogne Shepway Co-operation Organisation and is part-funded by the European Union.

Said town centre manager John Barber:

"The guide aims to encourage residents and visitors on both coasts to hop across the Channel to discover what's on the other side, and lists a selection of just some of the hundreds of events which will be staged in towns, villages and rural areas during the next few months. It is one of a number of collaborations with our across-Channel neighbours to boost transfrontier tourism and trade".

The guide can be picked up locally at:

  • Folkestone Town Centre Management, 103 Sandgate Road
  • Shepway Civic Centre, Castle Hill Avenue
  • Folkestone Town Council, 4 Princess Gate;
  • Folkestone Sports Centre, Radnor Park Avenue
  • The Grand; Burlington Hotel; One Stop shops
  • the Hythe and New Romney stations of the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway.

Copies are available for Eurotunnel travellers at terminals at Cheriton and Coquelles.
