South East Lib Dem Europe Group (SELDEG), which covers South East and South Central regions, is a new community of Lib Dem councillors, local party executive members and PPCs interested in finding out more about how the European Union relates to their daily work in their own counties, districts and towns.

They will explore the possibilities for EU funding for local initiatives, as well as looking at how EU policies on topics such as environment, waste and transport relate to the work of local authorities in the South East. They will also provide training for members on how local authorities can make the most of what the EU has to offer them.

SELDEG will meet four times per year and there will be a regular newsletter for members. Liberal Democrat Councillors, Local Party Executive Members can apply to join, and there is no subscription fee to join SELDEG.

See the South East Region Lib Dems web site at http://tinyurl.com/ywcv7f for a more detailed description of the planned work of the group. If you are interested in joining, please complete the registration form found at http://tinyurl.com/2egnet and return it by post or email to jobenfield@hotmail.com.

The first meeting will be held in July - the date and venue will be confirmed once it is clear how many members we have.

Please contact Joanna Benfield at jobenfield@hotmail.com with any questions.
