New traffic lights for junction of Beachborough Road and Shorncliffe Road, Folkestone
Kent Highways are going to be "signalising" the existing T-junction of Beachborough Road and Shorncliffe starting on Monday 5th October, and also be resurfacing the junction and approaches at this time, and upgrading some of the street lighting.
The works will take place along Beachborough Road from its junction with Station Road to Broadfield Crescent, and along Shorncliffe Road from its junction with Beachborough Road to the Folkestone West Station entrance.
From Monday 14th December 2009 full high speed rail services to London will commence, and as a result traffic volumes in this area are expected to increase. The junction is therefore being upgraded to signal control to regulate traffic flows, with a direct link to the adjacent Cheriton Road crossroads, allowing the junctions to work together at peak times. The work was agreed by a Joint Transport Board meeting of Shepway and Kent Councillors last week.
The works will be carried out using three-way temporary traffic signals, during off-peak hours. Please respect our workers space and safety by driving carefully and slowly through the roadworks. Kent Highways plan to commence work on Monday 5th October 2009, with temporary traffic signals being in place between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, Monday to Friday. They aim to complete the work
before full high speed services commence on Monday 14th December 2009.
If you have any questions on the works, you can contact Kent Highway Services 24 hour helpline - 08458 247 800 and quote the project reference number 1502717.
