On the Buses with Chani
Folkestone Lib Dem Campaigner Chani Sanger has written to Stagecoach asking them to take action to improve the look of Folkestone Bus Station and enhance our environment.
Chani says:
"At Folkestone Bus Station the wall next to the old kiosk is in disrepair and needs fixing up. The slabs are still nearby - it's a cheap fix, and a little work there would make a real difference to the look of the area.
"Also the space that the wall surrounds is currently overgrown and unsightly. I've offered to work with Stagecoach to keep that area tidy, but what I'd love to see is some wild flowers. They are not only aesthetically pleasing, but they are low maintenance perennials and would help and attract wildlife such as bees that are under threat and massively important to all of us."
Chani has also been approached by local residents concerned about the impact of bus timetable alterations that have just come into force across Folkestone and Hythe. Chani said:
"There are a lot of timetable changes, and there are real concerns that the new timetables will make journeys harder and slower - especially longer journeys such as to Maidstone, Ashford, Canterbury and Hastings. Lots of people working across the district that rely of buses to get to work in those places will be affected by that change.
"Other, more local, services also seem hit, so for example Sandgate Road and Sandgate High Street lose the regular 10 service to Ashford during the day.
"We're still looking into the full impact of the changes, but would like to know if any of the changes have made your bus journey more difficult. Drop me an email to chani@folkestone-hythelibdems.org.uk - I'd like to know how it has affected you!"
