Our Money Down The Drain

15 Apr 2003

It has been revealed that Tory run Shepway District Council has more meetings than any other Council in Kent. In fact the Council has as many meetings as three other local authorities put together!

Lib Dem Cllr Tony Baker said, "This is bureaucracy gone mad and it is costing local tax payers over a quarter of a million pounds every year. The new Council structure was supposed to cut the number of meetings!"

The Conservative run Council also has one of largest cabinets of any Council in Kent, again costing taxpayers thousands.

Tony added, "This is money down the drain and it should be stamped out. A Lib Dem Council, if elected on 1st May, will make sure our money is spent on frontline services that affect local people."
