Overnight work to resurface A20 near Folkestone

12 Sep 2011

Overnight work starting Monday (12 September 2011) on the eastbound A20 near Folkestone, in Kent will involve resurfacing sections of the carriageway, replacing road studs, and repainting road markings between junction 13 of the M20 and the A20 junction with the B2011.

The work will be carried out between 8pm and 6am each night Monday to Friday and is due to be complete by Wednesday 28 September. It will involve overnight closures of the eastbound carriageway. Signed diversions will be in place.

For safety reasons, a 50mph speed limit will be in place on the approach to the closure.

Road users heading past Folkestone will leave the M20 at junction 13 and follow the A259/A20 at Bridge, A259 Churchill Avenue, A260, B2011 Dover Hill and B2011 New Dover Road to join the A20 at Courtwood Interchange.

Local traffic will still be able to access the A260 at the Alkham Valley Interchange. However there will be no access from the A260 to the A20 eastbound. Traffic wishing to join the A20 eastbound will be diverted via the A260 Canterbury Road, B2011 Dover Hill and B2011 New Dover Road to join the A20 at Courtwood Interchange.

The westbound A20 is not affected by this work.
