Princes Parade, Hythe: Boring This Week

15 Jun 2015

Shepway District Council have commissioned contamination surveys at Princes Parade this week. The tests will involve sinking at least 7 boreholes, digging a series of sample pits and taking soil water and gas samples on 17 & 18 June.

There is more information on the Shepway Council website.

Sandgate Councillor Tim Prater commented:

"It seems really odd that these tests have not been carried out in detail before. In what world have detailed development proposals been put together for Princes Parade, and even consulted on, without knowing in detail about the contamination of the land that is there?

"If the samples show levels of contamination that make the proposed development uneconomic, who will pay for the waste of money that was the development of those proposals and the consultations? Shepway Council Taxpayers of course."
