Pristine Properties, Shame About the Potholes!
Local Lib Dem campaigner Gary Fuller, during a recent walk through streets in the West End of Folkestone between the Town Centre and Sandgate, was saddened to discover that an area filled with some of the most beautifully pristine properties in the town is blighted by the failure of Kent Highways to act on Potholes.
Following a route which took in, among other streets, Welson Road, Turketel Road, Bouverie Road West, Godwyn Road, Grimston Avenue and Trinity Crescent, he found around 100 potholes of various sizes and depths and also a damaged traffic island in Earls Avenue. He even found that a stretch of pathway in Bouverie Road West that he reported in August 2008, which is riddled with potholes, has still not been fixed.
Commenting, Folkestone Town Councillor Fuller said:
"It is a real joy to walk through what is a pristine and beautifully kept area of our town until you look at the pathways and roads which Kent Highways bear the responsibility for. Every bit of our town could be, and should be, incredibly beautiful.
"If the right amount of effort was put into it, starting with Kent Highways, who are really letting us down under this Conservative administration, then we could see real change."
