Revised Nickolls Quarry Plans Submitted
Revisions and further information for the development of Nickolls Quarry site at Hythe have been submitted to Shepway District Council.
These include changes to the site layout and education provision, the potential inclusion of sports and leisure facilities and the capping of the adjoining sewerage treatment works to help reduce smells. Further information has also been submitted about a range of other issues including phasing of the development, traffic, drainage and potential flood risk. These have been submitted by the applicant in response to statutory and public consultations last year.
The council has only just received the plans and is now reviewing the information and organising public consultations. This will include public exhibitions at Hythe Town Hall and Palmarsh Village Hall and further consultation with Hythe Town Council. Full details will shortly be available on the council's web site and in local newspapers.
Plans for the former quarry site include up to 1,050 homes, a new business park, areas of open space and lakes, community facilities, and shops.
