Sandgate Beach joins the list of 'Seaside Award' winners

The Parish of Sandgate is now the proud holder of a "Seaside Award' as judged by the 'Keep Britain Tidy' organisation. It is the only beach in Shepway awarded this year.

Councillors, businesses, members of the local community and officers at Shepway District Council have worked together to achieve this prestigious award.

To be successful, the Sandgate community had to demonstrate its commitment to providing a high quality beach environment for residents and visitors. The beach management group wanted to use the village's greatest amenity - the beach - to boost tourism in the area. Good beach access, toilet facilities, access to first aid, parking, clean beaches, high water quality, a beach management plan, an emergency plan and general cleanliness and tidiness of the area all had to be evidenced.

Sandgate will continue to illustrate its commitment to providing a high quality experience for all in this bijoux coastal village.
