Sandgate Martello Towers Planning Consultation and Presentation

16 May 2010

The proposals for the development of around 13 acres of land fronting Military Road in Sandgate, and stretching along the escarpment to Brewers Hill, also containing Martello Towers 6 & 7 will be on display in Sandgate Library from 6pm until 8pm on Thursday 20th May.

The display is prior to lodging a Planning Application for Change of Use of the Towers, formation of an entrance road and access track to the Towers, works to Designated Public Footpaths, and an enabling development of 5 houses to the south end of the site off a new road access.

Your views on the proposals are welcomed, and if you are unable to attend that event, please contact 01303 246 400 who will endeavour to give you the opportunity to view the proposals and to give your views in advance of an application being lodged.

UPDATE 4 August: The planning application has been submitted, and Sandgate Parish Council has considered and objected to the proposals. The decision will now be made by Shepway Council's Development Control Committee. A petition against the development is online at Sandgate Says No to Escarpment Development.
