Sandgate Traffic Accident Demolishes Traffic Island Light

A car has been written off and traffic island demolished on Sandgate High Street in the earlier hours of Sunday morning. The accident saw the car mount the kerb and plough into the light on the island outside the Shepway Liberal Democrat offices at around 3am.

Police and ambulances were on the scene and talking to the cars occupants within a few minutes, who seemed relatively unhurt according to eyewitnesses. The car was removed and road fully reopened by around 4.30am, with the damaged light removed from the island a little later in the morning.
