Say NO to Fracking: Keep it in the Ground [Opinion]
The Green Liberal Democrats have been working on a "Keep it in the Ground" motion which is now finalised and ready to be submitted to federal conference committee (by Jan 13th) for inclusion in the agenda for York in March. There is a good chance the motion will be debated if submitted: the Party Conference Committee specifically asked for a definitive motion, two regions passed a similar motion in November, and Tim Farron wants this policy!
However, as an organisation, Green Liberal Democrats are not empowered to submit motions as an organisation. I am submitting it as a conference delegate, and it will be seconded by one of our vice chairs. So, we now need official endorsements from 20+ party members and/or one or more local parties. Given the uncertainty over one member one vote rule changes, please include an indication of your status as a voting delegate.

We would also like to have the endorsement of local parties, particularly if fracking is a local issue. If you can persuade your local party to support this motion, please ask your Local Party Chair to send me a formal email to that effect.
If you are not a party member, thank you for your support and I hope you will consider joining the party to attend conference and vote for the motion.
Simon Oliver, Chair of the Green Liberal Democrats.
