Scam telephone call purporting to be from KCC Social Services

2 Dec 2013

A Kent resident has received a call from a man claiming to be calling on behalf of Kent Social Services. The person said his name was William and asked the resident if they would be prepared to take part in a survey. He then asked if they are the homeowner and for details about their household income.

When the Kent resident asked why they wanted this information they hung up.

This is a scam: KCC's Social Services did not make this call. They are not carrying out surveys at this time.

If KCC's Social Services decided to undertake a survey they would send a letter before a telephone call is made.

Never give an unsolicited caller any personal details even if they claim to be calling from KCC. If in doubt, hang up. Visit the Kent County Council website to find a number for a KCC department or contact their Contact Centre on 03000 41 41 41.
