Send a strong message AGAINST the development of Princes Parade

Princes Parade

Like many local residents, I wasshocked to see in the papers that a Shepway District Councillor has called those campaigning against the development of Princes Parade "out of touch".

Those campaigning against the development of Princes Parade are doing an excellent job and deserve to be supported, not ignored.

I oppose the development of Princes Parade.

I entirely agree with Historic England who have slammed the development plans as completely unacceptable near the mouth to the historic Royal Military Canal.

Our Councillors shouldn't be calling local people "out of touch". It seems to me they are out of touch. And the only way to make that point, to make sure they start listening much more carefully to local people in future - is to remind them they are not in charge. Voters are. You are.

In May there will be elections to Kent County Council. In Shepway, County Councillors will be elected to six newly drawn "divisions".

In our area, we will now elect a County Councillor for a division covering Seabrook, Hythe East, Saltwood, Sandgate and Cheriton. The new area takes in much of the old Folkestone West division and some of the previous Hythe division.

I've lived in Sandgate since 2004, and had the honour to serve Folkestone West as its County Councillor from 2009-2013. I'm delighted to have been selected by the Liberal Democrats for this division in the May County Council elections, and I'm determined to stand up for local people.

If elected in May, I would use that position wherever possible to stand up for Princes Parade and against its development. I'll stand up FOR local residents campaigning against development and will use my years of experience to help in that fight.

Current Hythe County Councillor Martin Whybrow has done an excellent job standing up for Princes Parade. But in May's election, Martin is not standing here - he is standing in West Hythe seeking election there.

Send a strong message AGAINST the development of Princes Parade.

Every vote for me in May would be a step towards electing a County Councillor who will fight Princes Parade development, and who will work across Party lines to do so.
