A dangerously potholed access lane off Shaftesbury Avenue in Cheriton will be repaired by Shepway Council housing department in the next month. The housing department called Councillor Tim Prater with the good news on Monday, after correspondence with Councillor Prater and local residents, including a piece in the Folkestone Herald newspaper highlighting the issue.

Tim Prater was delighted with the news, and said:

"I have already telephoned the local resident who started the fight to get the potholes in the lane repaired and brought it to my attention to give her the good news. I'm told the tarmacing of those sections should now be ordered, and the works due to be completed within a month.

"I'd like to thank the Housing Department for agreeing to get the lane sorted and this hazard dealt with as quickly as possible. In particular, thanks to Nicola Jenner for her work in getting this resolved and keeping me and local residents up to date."

The lane is an access lane to the garages and rear of properties on Shaftesbury Avenue and Weymouth Road.
