Shepway Announce Lydd Airport Planning Application Meeting Date
Shepway Council have confirmed that they will consider the planning applications for Lydd Airport at a Special Meeting of the Council to be held on Wednesday 30th January. The Council has made the decision to proceed having received additional information it has asked for over plans to expand London Ashford (Lydd) Airport.
The council had asked for the owners of the airport to clarify a number of key issues after the two applications - one for a new terminal building and one to extend the runway - went out to statutory and public consultation and had been examined by the council's own experts. The council wanted clarification and supplementary information about issues including impact on wildlife and habitat, noise, air quality and economic effects.
The additional information should help statutory consultees conclude their views on the proposals and assist planning officers prepare their report and recommendations. No date has been set for the decision-making meeting - although it is likely to be in the next few months.
The additional information can be viewed at the council's offices in Castle Hill Avenue, Folkestone, at One Stop Services in New Romney and on the District Council web site www.shepway.gov.uk. The closing date for any further comments is 15 November 2007.
Comments received in response to the consultation earlier in the year still stand and will form part of the representations made on the applications.
