Shepway Commit to Better Street Cleaning in Woodfield Close
Action from Councillor Peter Gane has drawn a promise that at least one road in Cheriton will get better street cleaning treatment in future. After being called by local residents, Peter was appalled at the street litter and dirt in the area, and contacted Shepway demanding a clear-up.
Shepway Council Officer Simon Burchell has responded, saying:
"I can confirm that KCC will attend this site with both a mechanical sweeper AND operatives to bring the whole area up to standard and they will also advise the sweeper responsible that he must keep this area up to standard by making sure he attends every fortnight. Also, the company responsible for weed spraying are due to start in this area within the week.
"I will be making regular site inspections over the next few days to ensure the promised works are carried out to everyone's satisfaction."
Peter Gane welcomed the response, saying:
"Woodfield Close was being left in a real mess, and its good that Shepway have accepted that, and are taking action. We will be watching over the next weeks to see the promise is carried out."
A couple of weeks ago, the paths leading to Woodfield Close were also cleared and resurfaced following a request from Councillor Gane.
