On 7th February, Chris Huhne announced the Government was launching "fast-track" review of the "Feed in Tariff" for all Photo Voltaic production (PV) for projects over 50kW.

The Feed in Tariff is a Government scheme to offer guaranteed returns for those installing renewable energy sources. Although the review should not effect the benefits for the large majority of residents or businesses considering installing solar panels on their home or business, there could be a big impact on larger scale schemes.

Lib Dem Councillor Tim commented:

"As a Councillor on Kent and Shepway Councils, I'm pushing for those Councils to make use renewables on their estate and to encourage and support residents and businesses to do the same thing. The recent Kent county Council Select Committee on Renewable Energy, on which I was a member, agreed to push for the same goal.

"The Feed in Tariff is a key part of that - it gives a financial guarantee for the installation of renewable energy production. Some larger developments would act as a real sign of what can be done, stimulate interest in this country and encourage others to get involved."
