9 May 2015

After the counting of the local election votes to Shepway District Council, the final composition of the new Council was:

  • 22 Conservative
  • 7 UKIP
  • 1 Labour

There were a number of suprise results, including the Conservatives losing their Deputy Leader Russell Tillson and former Cabinet member Alan Clifton-Holt to UKIP.

The full results can be found on the Shepway District Council website.

Tim Prater commented:

"Congratulations to the new Councillors across the area, and many thanks to those who backed their Lib Dem candidates.

"There is no way of sugar coating this for the Liberal Democrats: our result locally mirrored the disaster for the Liberal Democrats nationally on Thursday. We will regroup, renew, and come back. We've done so before, and we'll do it again."
