Key members of the Folkestone & Hythe Lib Dem team have been celebrating their part in the historic Brent East by-election last Thursday. The Lib Dems overturned a massive 13,000 majority to win the Brent East seat. There was a 30% swing from Labour and a 15% swing from the Conservatives.

Shaun Roberts, who is Peter Carroll's campaign manager and was his agent at the last General Election, was number 2 in the Brent campaign. Peter and members of his team spent time helping in Brent.

Peter said, 'The Brent result has a massive significance to the Folkestone & Hythe seat currently held by Michael Howard. A key poll in the Sunday Express clearly shows that his seat is at risk from the Lib Dem challenge. A swing of only a fraction of that seen at Brent will lose him the seat'.

Peter added, 'The last year has seen the Lib Dems take control of Shepway Council, Hythe Town Council and seen the Lib Dems achieve 30% of the popular vote across the country on 1st May. The Brent result clearly shows that we are on a sustained upward trend. Folkestone & Hythe is high on our list of target seats for the next general election'
