Shepway's Heroes Return
Shepway's Second World War veterans have until the end of May to take up the opportunity of a grant for travel costs to revisit the countries where they served. Nearly 400 people from the south of England are being given the opportunity to travel overseas and remember fallen comrades from World War II.
If you are a veteran, the majority of the cost of these tours will be funded by the Heroes Return scheme, which is part of the Veterans Reunited funding programme administered by the New Opportunities Fund. The Heroes Return scheme will fund travel costs for veterans (including former prisoners of war) and their present-day carers to visit the countries where they served.
If you are a UK resident and served with, or alongside, British and Allied Armed Forces in the Second World War and have not already registered with the Veterans Agency, call them FREE on 0800 169 2277 and they will send you a registration pack to complete. All registrations must be made by 31st May 2005 and all travel must be taken by 31st December 2005. Widows/widowers of veterans are also eligible.
