Shepway's Strange Press Priorities

11 Apr 2008

A regular email of recent press stories and updates from Shepway District Council DOESN'T get sent to the Leader of the Lib Dem opposition group on the Council, but DOES get sent to the local Conservative Agent!

Despite at least two requests, including in writing, Lib Dem Leader Lynne Beaumont is still not on the circulation list of press stories from Shepway Council's Media Officer Sarah Smith. The press releases are one of the ways the Council keeps not just the press but local Councillors in touch with recent updates, with around 20 Councillors receiving the update, alongside a list of other recipients, including the local Conservative Agent Gordon Williams.

Lynne Beaumont commented:

"It seems that no matter how often I ask, I simply do not receive these updates from the Council on a regular basis. I don't understand how it can be that hard for a Council with Shepway's resources to maintain a simple email list!"
