Sources of funding and funding advice for local community groups

There are a range of potential funding options for local organisations and groups seeking grants and support for their work in Shepway and beyond. Shepway District Council have put together a list of some of those funding sources, in addition to its own Shepway Community chest scheme, grants from Kent County Councillors and grants from some Town and Parish Councils such as Folkestone Town Council and Sandgate Parish Council.

ACF's website features an A-Z of major trust websites including summaries of activities supported and advice on contacting trusts.

The Church of England's "Churchcare" offers grants and advice on how to manage and fund church fabric projects.

Community Action South East Kent (CASE Kent) www.casekent.org.uk

Directory of Social Change www.dsc.org.uk

National charity providing information and training for the voluntary sector including online and hardcopy products relating to for example, trusts, grants for individuals, educational grants, guides to company giving etc. Some products e.g. "The Directory of Grant-making Trusts" are available in Reference Libraries.

UK charity providing some free/some charged services/products and specialising in UK charitable trusts and foundations.

KCF is a charitable foundation set up to encourage philanthropy for the benefit of the people of Kent. KCF manages a number of grant funds including the "Grass Roots" scheme for small groups.
