Maureen Speller: Clean streets are the single thing that would most improve Foord

Lib Dem Campaigner Maureen Kincaid Speller has asked Shepway District Council to have Marshall Street, Invicta Road, Ethelbert Road and Athelstan Road fully swept as soon as possible, after she saw that there was a lot of residual litter lying around in all of them.

Maureen contacted the council last Friday, with rubbish blowing down Marshall Street. Maureen said:

"Shepway District Council claim that they 'Sweep residential areas at frequencies ranging from a minimum of once per fortnight up to a maximum of three times per week, depending on usage'. It doesn't feel like they sweep our roads that often to me!

"I believe that all our streets should be kept clean and free from litter. It's the single thing that would most improve our area, and make it a better place to live and visit. Simple things, like sweeping streets AFTER rubbish collections, would make a BIG difference."
