Standards Committee Complaint: No Further Action

Councillor Lynne Beaumont has been informed that Shepway Standards Committee have decided to take no further action on a complaint received from Mr T Philpott, saying that the complaint was "too trivial to warrant further action, was malicious, politically motivated or tit-for-tat and not serious."

The notice from Shepway Council said:

On Tuesday 30 September, the standards committee of this Shepway District Council considered a complaint from Mr T Philpott concerning the alleged conduct of Councillor L E Beaumont, a member of Shepway District Council. A general summary of the complaint is set out below.

The complainant alleges that, as evidenced by comments in the local press, Councillor L E Beaumont, failed to treat Mr T Philpott, a member of the public, with respect.

Decision

In accordance with Section 57A(2) of the Local Government Act 2000, as amended, the assessment sub committee of the standards committee decided no action should be taken on the allegation.

Reasons for Decision

The sub-committee considered that the matter was too trivial to warrant further action, was malicious, politically motivated or tit-for-tat and not serious.
