Suspension of Campaigning

The Liberal Democrats nationally, along with the other political parties, have suspended campaigning today as a mark of respect for those killed and injured in the attack in Manchester last night.

Here in Shepway we are doing the same, and have today suspended any public campaigning activity - canvassing, campaigning online and leaflet delivery - in Shepway.

We do have a large number of leaflets already with the Royal Mail and, clearly, whether these are delivered today is outside our control.

As Liberal Democrat Leader Tim Farron has said:

"The country is united in grief after this devastating terror attack. Just as the country is focusing all its thoughts on the victims and their families, so politicians should come together in solidarity and respect for the innocent people caught up in this vile attack.

"The emergency services have shown the highest levels of bravery and professionalism and deserve our deepest thanks."
