Thank You Folkestone and Hythe
Lynne Beaumont has thanked voters across Folkestone and Hythe for their support in the General Election. Locally Damian Collins retained the seat for the Conservatives and Labour were second, with Lynne Beaumont moving from 4th in 2015 to take 3rd this time around.
Nationally the Conservatives lost their majority in a snap election called by Theresa May to increase her majority in a call that seems to have competely backfired, with calls for her resignation coming from within and outside her Party. Full results by consistituency are available here.
The Liberal Democrats moved from winning 8 seats in 2015 to 12 seats nationally this time, with nearby Eastbourne seeing Lib Dem Stephen Lloyd defeat the Conservatives to retake the seat.
"I am hugely grateful to every single person across Folkestone and Hythe that voted for me in this election. We have a lot to be proud of, and on an extraordinary count night nationally, locally we moved back from 4th to 3rd and retained our deposit. UKIP wwre trounced falling from 2nd to 4th and losing their deposit.
"I can only congratulate Damian Collins on his victory, and hope he fulfils his promise to work to resolve the looming GP crisis we have in our area. You made a promise Damian - we now demand that you keep it. And also congratulations to Laura Davison and Labour for their result in Folkestone and Hythe last night - you fought a really strong campaign, and have delivered a very impressive result.
"I also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has worked on our campaign for all your hard work. Between us we have walked many miles, shaken hundreds of hands, spoken to so many people, and shifted lots of paper!
"Stars have been born over the last few weeks, and people who have never worked for the party before have been truly amazing, and I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart."
