Thank You Folkestone for supporting the Gurkha Justice petition

NM

I write to say thank you to the hundreds and hundreds of people who signed Joanna Lumley's Gurkha Justice Campaign petition in Folkestone last Saturday.

Frankly, the weather couldn't have been much wetter, but this didn't put people off wanting to show their support. We had to send out for more petition forms!

Recently the High Court judge ruled the Government's 1997 cut off date for the Gurkhas as unlawful and unfair. Although a great victory in their campaign, this does mean the decision on whether all Gurkhas who served in the British Army should receive equal rights as those of UK and Commonwealth citizens, has been placed back, again, with the Government.

We intend to march up Downing Street on the 20th November to present Gordon Brown with our petition. It not too late to show your support - to do so, please go online to www.gurkhajustice.org.uk

Thank you
