Peter Carroll has thanked voters across the Folkestone and Hythe constituency for backing him and the Liberal Democrat candidates for the Kent County Council elections last Thursday. Across the area, many thousands of people voted for the Liberal Democrats.

Despite strong Lib Dem backing, the Conservatives had a good night, with Michael Howard retaining his seat with an increased majority, and winning all six county council seats in the area.

Peter Carroll said:

"Obviously we're disappointed not to have beaten Michael Howard - you wouldn't be human if you didn't feel that way. We are proud however to have had a lot of support across the constituency, and we would like to say thank you to every single person who worked for us, delivered for us and voted for us."

"The Liberal Democrats locally are not going to go away, and will continue to campaign for local people on issues that matter to them. From expansion of Lydd airport to closure of wards at local hospitals - the Liberal Democrats will continue to back local people in their fight to make sure our area is a good place to live and work."
