The Tide is Turning
I don't know about you, but right now, it feels like everybody seems to be turning to the Lib Dems for help.
The parents of Harcourt Primary school came to us for help in their campaign to keep their school open, as did the parents of Selsted Primary who are fighting to keep their school open.
The residents of Grassmere Gardens, who are suffering untold problems with the construction works of the new City Academy, have come to us for help and support.
The residents of Lyminge, turned to us for help with the introduction of car parking charges in their village. Because of the pressure we put on in the council chamber, the decision to impose these parking charges is being taken back to cabinet. We are trying to make the Tories and People First councillors responsible for this decision understand that you cannot treat rural communities the same as urban ones. These parking charges are killing the village.
Have the Tories and People First started to listen to the upset, angry, concerned residents of Lyminge? We will have to wait and see.
Residents suffering hardship because of the behaviour of local school children in Folkestone have turned to us for help. I am working with the local headteacher to solve these problems.
We are working hard to make the public aware of the dreadful situation the residents of Broadmeadow nursing home find themselves in. Broadmeadow Home is due to be demolished to make way for the entrance to the new academy being built adjacent to Channel School.
We were assured that the elderly residents would be able to move into the new purpose built replacement home. However, delays in construction now mean that the residents are faced with up to 7 months in temporary accommodation. KCC and the Primary Care Trust have broken all assurances made that the residents would come first in any major changes. Well, we are here to tell you, they have not been put first, and are being moved to temporary accommodation.
When are K.C.C. and the Primary Care Trust going to put the needs of people above school entrances and car parks?
Whitegates nursing home in Hythe are turning to us for help with the closure of their home, and the way they are being treated.
The people of Shepway know, that it is only the Liberal Democrats that listen to local people on local issues. We fight for those that in some cases, cannot fight for themselves.
The tide is turning. More and more people know that we make a huge difference to their lives, and turn to us for help. We listen, and act on their behalf.
We are proud to be asked, and proud to help.
Keep up the good work.
