Tom McNeice for Folkestone East

Former Mayor of Folkestone and Town and District Councillor Tom McNeice will be standing for the Liberal Democrats in the Folkestone East division he is delighted to call home.
Tom says:
"I am 78 years old and have lived in Folkestone for 48 years. I am retired but for 32 years I was a Trading Standards Officer working for Kent County Council. I was also a Foster Carer for nearly 25 years again working with children placed by Kent County Council. Over that nearly 25 year period we fostered approx. 70 children mainly teenagers teaching them to live independently after that had left the care system. As you can see I have a deep knowledge of the County and the problems that it faces. On retirement I stood for the Town and District Council, was elected and was honoured to be elected as the Mayor of Folkestone.
"I have a great interest in community work and I am the Chair of the Board of Trustees for John Bowley and Sherwood Homes which runs Alms Houses in Folkestone, I also chair the Folkestone Samuel Plimsoll Memorial Committee which for many years organised an annual memorial service which is held at St. Martin’s Church and help raise funds for a permanent memorial which is a portrait of Samuel Plimsoll, painted by Shane Record, and displayed on the wall of The Folkestone Fishing Museum. I am involved with the Royal British Legion and was a board member of Folkestone Town Centre Management.
“I am currently on the Council of The Rotary Club of Folkestone and I am a past President of the Club. On a personal note I have been married to Rev. Kate for nearly 52 years we have 6 children, 12 grand children and 3 grand dogs. Kate was a teacher/head teacher working in special needs schools and she is currently a Priest in the Trinity Benefice working mainly in St’ George’s in Folkestone. When I was in my late forties/early fifties I studied with the Open University and attained a BSC(Hons) degree.”
