Toni calls for more police

Local campaigner Toni Powell is campaigning for more police on patrol to crack down on rising anti-social behaviour in New Romney. The Lib Dems have also slammed Conservative run Shepway District Council for ignoring calls to buy a new specialist machine to remove graffiti in our area.

Toni Powell said:

"Local residents should not have to put up with this. We need more police on our streets to make our town a safer place to live. Dealing with crime and cleaning up the effects of crime will not just make our area safer, but make local residents FEEL safer, which is also important."

Toni is very concerned at the possible effects of new licencing laws that could extend opening hours at local pubs. Toni said:

"We will be keeping a close eye on the situation in the coming months. If elected to the Council, I will make sure local

people's voices and concerns are heard on this issue."

Lib Dem Dymchurch and St Mary's Bay Councillor Julie White said:

"I am really disappointed that Conservative Councillors have decided not to act on graffiti problems in our area."
