Tories Trounced in Internet Dating Poll
While the Tories debate their voting performance at their Party Conference in the opinion polls and the ballot box, it now appears that members of dating sites are also rejecting their advances.
Ivory Towers, (www.ivorytowers.net) the dating site for graduates, has unearthed some curious facts about their members' attitudes towards Tories. When members were asked whether they would be prepared to date a Tory:
- 33% - (over one third) said they definitely wouldn't,
- A further 30 % would only do so if things were right in all other respects.
- 21% said it would make no difference to them,
- only 16% would actually prefer to date a Tory.
Overall 63 % of the sample would either never date a Tory, or regard their political allegiance as a negative.
Jackie Elton, who runs Ivory Towers, said.
"It seems strange how opposed people are to the idea of even dating a Tory. Perhaps Conservatives in the UK are going to need their own dating site."
One of Ivory Towers' members looked at a random selection of dating profiles, and was amazed at how many people say that they are not interested in meeting or hearing from Tories, and how few will confess to being one or being prepared to know one.
One woman said she had "an aversion to Tories", a man said he had "no time for them." Others expressed the opinion that they couldn't go out with one, let alone fall in love with them. Only one member of the site admitted however to having a bit of a thing for Michael Portillo.
Bridget Jones suspected Mark Darcy of voting Tory, "If I voted Tory I'd be a social outcast," she said to him.
Ivory Towers is a dating site for graduates only - and as an increasing proportion of the population are graduates, it seems the Tories may have a growing problem on their hands.
