Veolia Water bought by Prudential and Morgan Stanley
An email from Veolia Water arrives today, with news that Veolia Water has just been sold:
"Veolia Water regulated businesses purchased by Infracapital Partners and Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners
"I am writing to inform you that Veolia Water Southeast, along with Veolia Water Central and Veolia Water East, have been purchased today by a consortium led by Infracapital Partners, the infrastructure investment fund managed by M&G (the European investment arm of Prudential plc) and Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners. Over the coming weeks we will be changing the name of our business from Veolia.
"Although the name will be different, customers should be unaffected by the change in ownership. We will continue to provide the highest quality of service to our customers. The tariffs we charge our customers for their water service will continue to be determined by the industry regulator, Ofwat.
"Veolia Environnement has sold our business to reduce the capital intensity of their group in its UK water operations and to give a greater focus on its commercial outsourcing business. This divestment is part of a €5 billion divestment programme which Veolia Environnement announced on 6 December 2011.
"As part of the sale, Veolia Water has retained a 10 per cent shareholding in our business and has established an exchange agreement with our business to allow sharing of best practices and continued access to previously developed capabilities."
