View from the Chair: Making the difference in the run-up to June Elections

Paul Kincaid
Paul Kincaid: We're working hard to bring about a change in June

It is fascinating to watch a political party gear itself up for an election. And that is what the Lib Dems are doing now. We're all prepared for the European and County elections that are coming up at the beginning of June. And we have high hopes of increasing our representation on Kent County Council and the European Parliament.

Of course, we're not going to be able to turn those hopes into reality without an awful lot of effort. We've got a really strong message to get across. (Given how much of our money the Tory Council in Kent has wasted, it's a message that is going to have a tremendous impact on people.) But to get that message out means all of us have got to make an effort.

That's where you come in.

-We need money so we can afford to produce the literature.

-We need people to help stuff letters in envelopes.

-We need people who can deliver this literature.

It doesn't take much, but every little bit makes it that much more likely that we will get the result we want come election day.

And thinking of the election, our official campaign launch day is Saturday 2nd May, and we're going to mark the occasion in style.

We're taking over Saltwood Village Hall and we're giving you the chance to meet our candidates, and question them about the things that matter to you. It's your opportunity to find out how our policies will make a difference here in Folkestone and Hythe.

Catherine Bearder, our number two candidate for the European Parliament, will be attending. And we'll also have our candidates for the County Council. Plus we hope to have the odd little bit of fun during the evening as well. So tell your friends, and bring as many people along as you can to find out why we're all working so hard to bring about a change in June.
