We miss Lynne

SHEPWAY council are doing a grand job aren't they? Very soon we will be free of pesky outsiders blocking our streets with their cars, and staying at our hotels, and what about all those who use our shops? We can do without them, who wants their money anyway.

We once had a very busy Sunday market in the town centre, which attracted people from other areas to the town and brought trade to the shopkeepers. But the council decided to try to squeeze more money out of the stallholders, so they pulled out, which means that income from them has gone. Now it looks like we will lose the Saturday Mmarket too; it gets smaller each week and the town is definitely less busy than it was a few months ago. That must please the council no end.

It was a sad day for Folkestone the day we lost Lynne Beaumont. She was a real people's person, and kept her eye on where taxpayers' money was going. Without her calling meetings and fighting for us, I'm sure we would have lost the clinics at the Royal Victoria Hospital and have to travel to Ashford or Canterbury for medical check-ups. No other councillor made any effort to persuade the NHS to think again about the move.
